Because I Have To

There are those deep, dark days, full of pain,

When the only thing I want is escape,

I think often of eternal peace,

But, I know I'll make it, because I have to.

There are those days that seem so promising,

And then something happens to spoil it,

I just want to give up and leave this world,

But, I know I'll make it, because I have to.

There are those days that are just mundane,

And I go back to bed because I'm bored,

I start thinking thoughts of quitting,

But, I know I'll make it, because I have to.

The professionals ask if I have a plan,

Yes, my plan has been made formany years,

The pain can be so bad and maybe I should go,

But, I know I'll make it, because I have to.

You see, I love this boy who is my only child,

He might be old enough to understand,

But never be old enough not to hurt forever,

So, I know I'll make it, because I have to.
